Miriam Yeung, Ed's God-Sister, provides unsolicited tactful support

Miriam Yeung (楊千嬅) made an appearance yesterday at a Chinese New Year event at Harbour City. As guest of honour, she was carried in on a sedan chair by eight strong men, who carried flags with her surname printed on them. The fortune god presented her with some gifts and then she spun the windmill to bring good luck to Hong Kong.

Miriam wish for the new year was for everything will go well and the bad things to go away.

With the ongoing scandal surrounding the revelation of celebrity sex photos, there have been reports that Miriam has become caught up in the aftermath. She said that the matter is with the police, so she was not in a position to comment. She added that no-one has the right to debate the situation and she is unhappy because the scandal has affected many of her friends. She said that she has deleted any messages she has received about the photographs and hoped that the police will find the culprits soon.

Asked if she has been in touch with her godbrother Edison Chen (陳冠希) to ask him about the situation, Miriam said that all her friends are on new year breaks, so she has just been sending them text messages to express her wishes and support.

As for suggestions that her name will also appear on the list of female celebrities involved in the scandal, Miriam said that she did not want to comment any further and with the scandal bringing down the general morality in society, she did not want to perpetuate the reports any further.

When reporters asked if her parents had questioned her about the incident, she said that her mother trusts her completely and she has her own integrity, so after 12 years in the industry, she has no need to explain herself.
