Eric Tsang Supports Gillian Chung at Charity Event: Should Not Deny a Charitable Act

Gillian Chung performance at the charity event 《雪中送暖》 elicited 170 complaints from audience. Eric Tsang pointed out: “It shouldn’t matter because it is for charity. [Gillian] should not be denied if she intended to do something good.” Gillian made a public statement earlier but there were criticism about the content. Eric explained that managers are in charged nowadays. A lot of artistes don’t deal with these incidents. It is different than the artistes in the 80s who had to take care of themselves.

Eric is most sympathetic towards BoBo Chan out of everyone involved in the scandal. Are you worried that BoBo’s wedding is called off? Eric said: “BoBo is an adult. She needs to deal with her own issues. Not to mention the wedding is between BoBo and her finance. Marriage is a lifetime.” The suspected nude pictures of artistes have affected the entire city. Eric believes that as an adult, Edison Chen should be held accountable for what he did. He said: “Even if you don’t explain and confess to the public, Edison should explain himself to the females involved in the scandal. His video clip does not count.” There are rumours that Edison slit his wrist. Eric said: “People can write about anything. You can only confirm it is true when you see it.”

There were criticisms about the president of the Artistes’’ Union, Alan Tam, because people feel that he did not handle the incident correctly. Eris said: “No, in his speech 『香港人及娛樂圈的悲哀』 (Sorrow of Hong Kong people and entertainment circle), we already knew how seriousness of this incident. It contained police and media reports. It is even attracted international focus. So there was no mention of “doctoring or manipulation”. This incident is like the Robin Hood story. The person uploading the pictures is the heroic thief. He stole things for everyone to view. But taking it is like accepting stolen goods. People need to be clear if it is good or bad.”
